Woodburn Christian Children's Home

Location - Fort Wayne, Indiana
Project – Renovation
Completed - Under Construction

The Woodburn Christian Children’s Home is a residential program for children aged 6-21 years of age who have experienced abuse or neglect. As a new addition to the 33-acre campus, this facility will provide space for educational tutoring, life skill training, counseling and behavior development, office space, chapel, and recreation.

The design goal was to create a space where children will engage with each other, counselors, and family members. The client imagined an interior that was energetic, encouraging positive interaction while providing areas where children could find “shelter”. Bold, muted, accent walls in offices and public spaces were accented by bright and bold upholstery to create a dynamic, inviting space. To assist in the healing of abused children, the counseling rooms were designed with dark walls and neutral upholstery to provide calm after overstimulation.
